Eye in the sky is the final film acted in by Alan Rickman, before his sad death this year. ‘Eye in the sky’ also stars Helen Mirren as Colonel Katherine Powell, a UK-based military officer in command of a top secret drone operation to capture terrorists in Kenya. Through remote surveillance and on-the-ground intelligence, Powell discovers the targets are planning a suicide bombing and the mission escalates from “capture” to “kill.” But as American pilot Steve Watts is about to engage, a nine-year old girl enters the kill zone triggering an international dispute which reaches the highest levels of US and British government, over the moral, political, and personal implications of modern warfare.
‘Eye in the sky’ is a is very simple story of humanity, tensely and thoughtfully told, which will be screened on Friday 4th November at the Jubilee Hall, Slade Road, Portishead. The film starts at 8.00pm (with refreshments available from 7.30) and tickets cost £5.00 (£4.50 for concessions). All are most welcome.
