In the acclaimed Japanese film Our Little Sister, all female leads won Japanese Academy awards.
Three sisters Sachi, Yoshino and Chika live together in a large house in the city of Kamakura. When their father absent from the family home for the last 15 years dies, they travel to the countryside for his funeral and meet their shy teenage half-sister. Bonding quickly with the orphaned Suzu, they invite her to live with them. Suzu eagerly agrees, and a new life of joyful discovery begins for the four siblings.
Our little Sister makes thrilling the rich inner lives of four young women trying to navigate rocky emotional terrain. If you succumb to its slow rhythms, the climbs up a hill to find a magnificent view, the walks along the beach, the simple peace of a shared meal, this is the kind of film that will leave you feeling restored and possibly a little misty-eyed as well.
Our little Sister will be screened on Friday 3rd February at the Jubilee Hall, Slade Road, Portishead. The film starts at 8.00pm (with refreshments available from 7.30) and tickets cost £5.00 (£4.50 for concessions). All are most welcome.
